Doctor-Formulated. Ask Who. Then Ask What.

A doctor's name should make the formula easier to question. Here is what the phrase means at WIC.

The WIC Edit

We raised the standard for supplements. That means putting a name and a clear job behind the words “doctor-formulated.”

A title alone does not tell you what is in a capsule. It also does not tell you whether that capsule belongs in your routine. You deserve both answers.

Three roles. Three different jobs.

At Wellness in Chaos, the roles are clear:

  • Valorie is the nurse founder.
  • Dr. Andrew Brandeis, ND formulates the supplement library.
  • Your own clinician helps you assess how a supplement fits your care.

“Doctor-formulated” describes the supplements. It does not mean a doctor has examined you, diagnosed you, or prescribed your personal pack.

A concrete example

Imagine you see two claims while shopping. These are teaching examples, not product labels.

Claim A: “A doctor designed this formula.”

Claim B: “My doctor reviewed this product with my medicines and current supplements.”

These claims answer different questions. The first concerns the formula. The second concerns your own care. Do not assume the first includes the second.

Ask for more than a title

Open the ingredient details. Write down:

  1. The ingredient's full name and form.
  2. The amount in one serving.
  3. The serving size.

Then add the product to a list of what you already take. Include medicines, other supplements, amounts and how often you take them. Bring that list to your clinician or pharmacist before adding something new.

The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements advises keeping this kind of record. Supplements can affect how medicines work, and more is not always better.

How WIC puts this into practice

WIC publishes ingredient forms and amounts. You can review an editable personalized pack before you pay. Fixed protocols are a separate choice with set formulas.

Use those details. Ask why an ingredient is there. Ask what the amount means for your full routine. A company that says it raises the standard should welcome those questions.

“Doctor-formulated” is the start of the explanation. The formula still needs to be clear.
